Weekly Women Wednesday Vol. LXVIII - LPX

LPX is making the music that has me feeling like I'm so much bigger than my body, breathing life back into my duller days. Behind the diy alt-pop project LPX is Lizzy Plapinger who knows her way around a pop anthem or two, and her new track ‘New Mood’ takes a confident stride into a brand new era. The entire globe is dealing with stagnancy in one way or another. Personally I am getting so tired of seeing my face in the same mirror everyday, falling into the same banal routine, trying then failing to grow even an inch in the four walls I’m confined to. The second I heard Lizzy refer to herself as an ‘emotional hoarder’, I knew that this was going to be the song to keep me aflame when I so badly want to burn out. I feel akin to every line and melody, the way the old lives you lived come tapping on your shoulder, just as you became untangled from all that strife. ‘New Mood’ is shouty, and grand, and so beautifully chaotic. Her 80s centric sound crossing paths with punk-pop elements, feeling classic and familiar yet still so fresh. Plapinger’s throaty timbre breaking into raw and visceral speaking pieces embodies all of that frustration you’re feeling right now, the sinking in your gut when another day ends in more of the same, the fire in your heart begging you to transcend the mundane.
