Darlin’ - Quarter Roy
St. Augustine, Florida is the home of three piece indie rock band Quarter Roy. Fronted by Gabi Yost and joined by Tyler Cooper-Kolb and Kaylie Gesky, the trio encapsulates what it means to be young and warm with passion. Their single 'Monday', released in 2019, was one of my favorite tracks of the year, so we were incredibly excited to hear that Quarter Roy would be releasing their newest track, 'Darlin’', on February 14th. We were lucky enough to be able to premiere the track a day early, which you can check out below!
Darlin’ reminds me of those high school dances you see in movies, where the main character is sitting on the bleachers as the disco lights dance around the room, staring longingly at the one they want the most. A song about the bittersweet feelings of lust and heartache, Darlin' tugs at the heartstrings to a place that everyone has found familiar. When your soul feels like it's about to overflow with the emotions and thoughts that you've been holding back, and you are at your most vulnerable.
"If I said what I wanted to say,
would it put me in your mind?
'Cause I dream of you all the time."
This soft and hazy ballad is for sure a favorite of ours, and we are so stoked to see what’s coming next from Quarter Roy, and hope that we don’t have to wait long to find out.
You can find Quarter Roy on Spotify & Apple Music, and keep up with them on Instagram& Twitter!
