Weekly Women Wednesday Vol. XXI - Daisy The Great
Daisy the Great are a duo made up of long time friends, Nicole Dugan and Mina Walker. The two are based out of Brooklyn, studied at NYU Tisch School of the Arts & Atlantic Acting School, and have since been making infectious Indie singer/songwriter tunes perfect for your Sunday mornings filled with coffee and spring cleaning. Their debut record 'I’m Not Getting Any Taller' hit the scene earlier this year, and is a dynamic work of art from cover to cover. These two know how to navigate complex and tight vocal harmonies, while never overwhelming the overall composition and keeping things light and airy, leaving your skin covered in goosebumps. The album opens up with 'IDKW', a track best described as super fun- in almost a big band style, this track is full of fast paced and dancey vocals led by claps and funky percussion. My personal favorite from the album is 'Dips', as this song feels like my idea of a perfect love song, earning it a top spot on my latest ‘Crush’ playlist. This song explores the slow and somber moments of love, salt water kisses and rolling waves, surrounded by sweet and soft vocals bringing the intimacy and closeness to life. Making you melt faster than you can say it’s just a crush. Put on this record whenever you’re in need of a pick-me-up, want to scream lyrics about oh so wise men who think they know everything, or find yourself lost in a love story engulfed in sea salt and sweet sands.
