Your 2019 Festival Guide
Festivals can be incredibly daunting- the ticket price, organizing travel plans, the stress of finding where to stay, preparing to eat overpriced meals comprised of french fries and ice cream for three days. However, when done thoughtfully, festivals can be an amazing opportunity to not only to see tens of artists you already love, but to discover new acts that you might’ve never stumbled upon otherwise. We compiled eight of our favorite 2019 US festivals all across the country.
SOMETHING IN THE WATER / VIRGINIA BEACH, VA / APRIL 26-28
Alright, this one is coming up quick, so I wanted to mention this one out of the gate. An all ages festival on the beach of Virginia, this three day lineup is filled with artists encompassing numerous genres. The fest has major rap and hip hop names like SZA, Lil Uzi Vert, and Travis Scott alongside well loved pop and alternative acts such as Maggie Rogers, Mac Demarco, and Rosalia. This melting pot of artists is what is so intriguing about Something In The Water, and we can’t wait to see how the weekend plays out.

OUTSIDE LANDS / SAN FRANCISCO, CA / AUGUST 9-11
Known for its beautiful woodland setting & inclusion of art, wine and beer, and marijuana, Outside Lands also consistently provides unique and intriguing lineups year after year. Names like Childish Gambino, Twenty One Pilots, Better Oblivion Community Center, Hozier, and Still Woozy, we could drone on and on about how bad we wish we were going. This San Fran fest challenges the boundaries of ‘music festival’ offering numerous types of experiences involving food and drink, art, marijuana, comedy, podcasts, and many others. Outside Lands is an example of of what makes us excited for the future of music festivals.

LOLLAPALOOZA / CHICAGO, IL / AUGUST 1-4
This iconic festival has gotten mixed reviews pretty much every year, but I think Lollapalooza has redeemed itself in 2019. Tame Impala, Kacey Musgraves, H.E.R., Japanese Breakfast, Tierra Whack, and so many more keep me coming back to stare at this lineup poster. With nearly 200 bands from all over the world performing in the heart of Chicago, Lollapalooza is one of the biggest American festivals, and if you’ve ever considered going, we think this is the year.

PITCHFORK / CHICAGO, IL / JULY 19-21
Another Chicago classic, Pitchfork Music Festival in July is absolutely one of my favorite lineups of the year, ever year. Sky Ferreira, Mavis Staples, HAIM, Belle & Sebastian, Charli XCX, Parquet Courts…. I’m tearing up as I’m typing this. Pitchfork is a mixed bag of classics and well known artists, along with providing a platform for new and emerging acts. Making strides towards sustainability and accessibility, both imperative qualities that have been ignored by festivals in the past, and even the present, Pitchfork is a festival that highlights inclusivity and awareness.

MOPOP / DETROIT, MI / JULY 27-28
Yellow Days, Kali Uchis, Vampire Weekend, Lizzo, Wallows, Roy Blair. This small Detroit festival has been becoming more and more well known for its indie and alternative lineups, and this year we have never been more excited. A more relaxing setting for the festival, this two day event is located at West Riverfront Park, with open space and beautiful scenery. This is also one of the more affordable festivals, making it accessible to those outside of just the avid festival-goers. Children under 12 are also free!

JUST LIKE HEAVEN / LONG BEACH, CA / MAY 3-4
This first year indie rock festival instantly grabbed our attention the minute it was announced, and we are in love with these acts. Passion Pit, MGMT, Peter Bjorn and John, Tennis, Ra Ra Riot, just to name a few. This fest is selling out quick, as the original one day lineup sold out so quickly, an additional day was added, and tickets for that are almost sold out. We are so excited to see how this festival goes this year, and what the future brings for Just Like Heaven. Grab em quick!

WOODSTOCK / WATKINS GLEN, NY / AUGUST 16-18
The 50th anniversary of the legendary Woodstock festival, and the lineup does not disappoint. Huge names like Miley Cyrus, The Killers, Leon Bridges, Halsey, Vince Staples, and Earl Sweatshirt, along with smaller beloved indie acts like Soccer Mommy, Boygenius, Flora Cash, Grandson, and Cherry Glazerr, anyone going to this fest will be sure to spend these three days in August running from stage to stage hoping to catch every performance.

BONNAROO / MANCHESTER, TN / JUNE 13-16
A festival known for its setting, you will be sure to sweat your heart out on this Tennessee farm while seeing your favorite musicians. Beach House, Solange, Catfish and the Bottlemen, Donna Missal, Caroline Rose, The Lemon Twigs are just a few names we were happy to see on this stacked lineup. Bonnaroo is infamous for it’s community feel, as many people camp in tents or cars on the festival grounds. If you’re not afraid of getting down and dirty, we can not recommend this four day camping festival.
